BOULDER
Boulder is a quiet community tucked in a valley surrounded by timbered mountains. It was
founded as a stage coach stop between Fort Benton and Virginia City, and named for the huge
granite rock outcroppings that dot the landscape. South of Boulder the Boulder River zig zags
through some of Montana's most enchanting ranch country; hay and cattle are king.
Go east, and the near ghost town of Elkhorn reminds us of the rich mining history of the area.
Sandhill cranes return each spring to the meadows where elk graze at dusk on summer evenings. Boulder is
within easy commuting distance to Butte or Helena, and I maintain a Windermere branch office in
this area that I appreciate so deeply. I hope that you will allow me to share it with you!
